伝説的なブルースアーティスト、近藤房之助はかつて「玉川健一郎は、出会ったときから今に至るまで、僕よりはるか先を行くシンガーだ」と語った。 北海道出身。学生時代に近藤房之助をはじめとする名だたるミュージシャンたちと出会い、ブルースやR&Bの歌唱から音楽の道を歩み始めた。 2004年、日本を代表するバップ・ピアニストのひとりである福居良との出会ったことでジャズへの関心が芽生える。札幌の「ジャズライブ SLOWBOAT」本格的にジャズに取り組み、後にジャズの巨匠バリー・ハリス氏にも師事した。福居から受け継いだジャズの精神と、バリー・ハリスに学んだ繊細な歌唱法を融合し、独自のスタイルを確立した。 2018年にデビューアルバム『On a Slow Boat』、2021年にはセカンドアルバム『Sings For You』をリリース。2024年12月には、HTBジルベスターコンサートにて札幌交響楽団と共演を果たした。
Hokkaido-born Tamagawa began his musical journey singing blues and R&B after meeting Fusanosuke Kondo and other acclaimed musicians during his student years. In 2004, he crossed paths with Ryo Fukui, one of Japan’s leading bop pianists, which sparked his interest in jazz. He started his jazz training at “jazz live SLOWBOAT” in Sapporo, where he later studied under jazz legend Barry Harris. Tamagawa blends the jazz spirit honed under Fukui with the delicate singing style he learned from Barry Harris. In 2018, he released his debut album On a Slow Boat, followed by his second album, Sings For You in 2021. In December 2024, he performed at the HTB Sylvester Concert with the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra.
